This is an introductory lesson to the novel, discussing and working towards a timeline of Conrad's life and influences and also how Conrad uses the technique of an intrusive narrator and how this is used within the novel. This discussion/work should influence their reading in regards to Conrad's writing style.

Used with a low ability year 10, this PEEL table is used to analyse the poem in regards to the theme of mourning and loss; a part of the Conflict section of the Eduqas Anthology. It is easy to adapt and highlights the when the pupils are hitting the assessment objectives (AO1/2/3). Pupils found the step by step approach to analysing a poem really helpful and can be easily differentiated with sentence stems for example.

Included is the example recipe and a writing frame in order to create their own. Used with lower ability year 8.
